FAQ

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q. When does Fall Basketball 2010 start?

A. Fall Basketball 2010 will begin on Monday September 13, 2010. Please email director Gary Burks at garyb@fitfx.com for additional information.

Q. Can you join the CBA Academy and Salem Swish anytime?

A. Yes, you can join the Courthouse Basketball Academy at anytime however during our winter basketball season (November through March) please email me for availability prior to registering at garyb@fitfx.com.

Q. What age can my child become apart of the Courthouse Basketball Academy?

A. The Courthouse Basketball Academy will take kids as young as 4 years old in our Level 1 Class.

Q. Does the Courthouse Basketball Academy offer anything for just girls?

A. Yes, the Courthouse Basketball Academy is proud to offer Girls Teams. Last year was our first run at it and we anticipate an even bigger year this season for our girls.

Q. What is the difference between the Courthouse Basketball Academy and the Salem Swish team?

A. The Courthouse Basketball Academy is our main organization that supports individual/team skill development. Our Pre-season workouts from September through October, Regular Season practices/games from November through March, Spring Program from March through May, and our Summer Camps from June through August all fall under The Courthouse Basketball Academy. The Salem Swish is the DBA name we use to register all our teams in tournaments and leagues. The Salem Swish represents the team aspect of The Courthouse Basketball Academy.

Q. I am not a member of the Courthouse Athletic Club can my child still participate in your program?

A. Yes, all of our programs are open to non-members.

Q. What would you consider unique about your program?

A. The Courthouse Basketball Academy is unique in many different ways. First, we do not believe in placing kids on teams based upon their grade in school, we believe that placing them according to their Level will further enhance development. Second, we believe in teaching kids the rules of the game as early as possible. This is why we place our athletes in leagues and tournaments that apply high school rules even at 1st grade. We feel this is the best way for an athlete to adapt to what they will face in the future.

Q. I’m new to the area and am currently looking for the “most” competitive opportunity for my child, is this program for us?

A. The Courthouse Basketball Academy is for every basketball player looking to take his or her game to the next level. Our main focus is on skill development and providing our athletes with knowledgeable coaches and instructors.

WINTER BASKETBALL LEVEL QUESTIONS

Q. What is a Level?

A. Level is a class or team designed to place kids based upon their skill. In most cases the Level will directly correspond with their current grade. Levels have provided an excellent tool of placing beginning basketball players in the appropriate situations to improve and our advanced basketball players in situations to be challenged. A more detailed description is provided under PROGRAMS.

Q. How do I know which Level to sign my child up for?

A. Please view our Programs section of the website for a detailed description of each Level. For example, if your child were a 4th grade basketball player, I would sign them up for Level 4. The director will then make the decision that is best for the athlete to excel.

Q. My child is a stud and has played in other programs should I register them for the Level above their grade?

A. No, many parents feel there child will not be challenged because they have played up in other programs; our program is filled with a variety of talent including many of the top youth basketball players for their ages in the area. The director will make the best decision for your child to excel.

REGISTRATION QUESTIONS

Q. I registered my child online but received no confirmation if it went through. What should I do to make sure my child is registered?

A. If you are unsure please email me directly at garyb@fitfx.com. I receive confirmation of each registration.

COST AND FEES QUESTIONS

Q. What is the cost for your program?

A. The cost varies per individual; each Level has a different cost. Please check under Programs for the varied cost.

Q. Is your program based upon a monthly fee?

A. No, each program session/season fee is based on a level of fixed wage and operational costs.  In order to ease the financial strain on participants the Courthouse has split the Basketball Academy fee into equal monthly payments.  Based on this accommodation, some months offer just a few class sessions, but the monthly fee remains fixed.  If you would like to eliminate the hassle associated with monthly billing you may opt to pay for the full season of class sessions in advance.  Due to the afore mentioned costs associated with the Basketball Academy there is no financial incentive or “price break” in paying the full season in advance.

Q. During the winter season why is there a registration fee?

A. Registration fee is key to helping our program run efficiently. During November and December is when we order teams uniforms, t-shirts, and pay for the upfront cost of leagues and tournaments. This allows us the ability to do so without increasing your monthly installments.

Q. I am a member of the Courthouse Athletic Club is there a discount?

A. Yes, each member of the Courthouse will receive a discount for being a member of the club. Please check under Programs for appropriate member pricing.
